I’m currently exploring the ins and outs of "featureless" builds and fixed mag solutions. It’s a bit of a puzzle, but I’m still getting to the range every weekend I can. I’m here to learn about the latest CA-legal innovations and to experience life in the free states.

I have one featureless stock, I have a Thordson, and have had it for possibly 12 years.

The idea with the featureless stock is that it doesn't possess any "evil features". You can't have a flash hider, vertical grip on front, pistol grip at trigger, no adjustable butt stock, grenade launchers, etc...

Here is a pair of firearms. The top one is a 16" barrel on a featureless stock.

The bottom one is a 12" barrel, showing another approach. Both are 8.6 blackout. This one has a Thordson cheek weld to be used for the butt stock, the cover doesn't extend past the buffer tube. I think I still have this assembled, sans the scope, as I know the scope is on my 10/22. Basically the key feature is the stock and how the grip is positioned. This is very similar to many hunting rifles. I wouldn't say it's ideal, but it's ok. The grip on the lower one needs to keep the web of your firing hand above the top to be legal, hence why it is shaped like that. IMO, it is very uncomfortable. In fact, I would say it's the most uncomfortable grip I own. I much prefer a standard Magpul MOE grip.

I also heard Alan Thordson is retiring though, so not sure what he has left in stock or if someone else is taking over his business. The lower grip is a Sparrow.

If you have specific questions about featureless, holler away!
