First off, Happy 250th Anniversary to everyone.
Was reading on a Muzzleloading forum about an unexpected issue with a flintlock rifle that left the shooter humbled and it reminded me of one of my own incidents last year..
Last year I bought a new small-carry 9mm, and had put a new red-dot optic on to try it out. An issue I was having was with new red-dot and trying to see the target in the sun at the gun range. I was concentrating on the target and with my big hands, and had gotten my hands in the wrong position with my left thumb sticking up, and met the ejection action on the first round and took a piece of skin off my thumb, and of all places, at the range. I knew exactly what I had done and as the finger started to bleed pretty good, I had no option but to go ask the range master for a bandaid or two; there were three of them in their building. It was more embarrassing than the injury as I couldn't believe that I had just done that, having shot semi-auto pistols all these years without doing that.
