Buying a handgun

My DL is at my north address to easily prove to LEO that it is my house.
My power bill for up there is sent mid state for my wife to easily pay.

My fishing license just expired , so I am just going to just going to renew it for up north so I have a second form of ID

You know, I've been told that if you take the safety course online with your GO ID, you don't have to provide the FSC.

Interesting that my Bersa shipped UPS 2 day Air. Will be at my FFL on Thursday, the 11th. I will plan to go over there, as the power will be off at my rental from 9:00-2:00pm.

@Eastenerwesterner

Does that mean you can only receive firearms at your north address? I will eventually have my home address on my DL. You may have a Real ID DL, I don't.

I believe, and could of course be wrong, that "The Day of Reckoning" is coming. Bring it on!;)
I had real ID at my Ranch address. When I had to renew, I transferred it to up north address. My last purchase attempt was at a local Sportmans Warehouse 75 miles away from it.
I did this for fire insurance and Squatter purposes. Squatter in the house, LEO is going to look at my license favorably saying I own it.
Didn’t think it would cause 2A issues. Probably would cause me issues buying ammo.
This state likes to deny a right.

Ok, this is strange...I ordered my Bersa Firestorm from Rohnert Park, and it shipped from Salt Lake City, UT. This seems strange as the Firestorm is CA compliant, which is kind of a joke, as the Thunder is pretty much the same, although the Firestorm has some differences, one being it went through a drop test required in CA. But it seems odd that the Firestorm would be kept in stock in UT, rather than CA, but maybe they keep all of their firearms in UT. They charged me $15 to send it to my FFL, and it shipped yesterday so that the status reflects my FFL will contact me when the Firestorm gets there. They sent it UPS 2-day air. I don't think I can send 2-day UPS for $15. 🤷‍♂️

When you get it let us know what you think
I will do that, but need to find some dies first. Midway won't ship to CA anymore, and Brownells is out of stock on 380 ACP Redding dies. It's coming together though. I have some Bullseye powder I can use, I think, but need to check in the shop. I just reloaded a box of 50 for 300 WSM. Ravens Rock has the Lehigh Defense bullets on sale, but I don't think I have primers. I have large pistol for 45 ACP, but 380 uses small pistol. Ravens Rock has Starline brass in stock.

It’s funny how some place won’t deal with Cali . I hear ruger won’t even ship wood grips to Cali . That s ridiculous and smith won’t ship rubber grips here . I ordered a trigger spring set for my cz for mcarbo they shipped it out I was holding my breath till I got a confirmation and tracking number all is good 👍

Yeah, I used to buy a lot of stuff from MidwayUSA, but they stopped entirely. Luckily, some still will. Brownells will, but are out of stock on the 380 ACP dies. I'm waiting for a notice.

In the meantime, these bullets were hard to beat on price...$0.07/ea.

Yea I heard midway stop completely I think ruger stop on most things wooden grips go figure. Even with smith a j frame rubber grips that’s not right
This has got to end. Pretty soon, nobody will ship gun related parts to CA. As it is, I have to enter the EXACT address, with same partial words and zip, in order to get a credit card to go through.

I guess I can't buy parts for my Ruger 10/22 or MidwayUSA now...seems unconstitutional...because it IS!

If the Dems steal the election, we're toast. Let's hope that never happens...

Got my fishing license with my updated address. Will stop to again to try to purchase on Friday. Just a pain doing it 2 weeks later

Have my Power Bill too. It says my up North address for the service, it just gets mailed to my midstate address to pay. I have what will fly, I am going to ask them if the power bill would fly with 2 different addresses.

Tried to get into the DOJ database. But of course signing up was a joke and I couldn’t get in. I know I bought 2 midstate and 1 in LA. I just wanted to see what they had on me for info.
This state is so convoluted, did I have to report the 12g I bought 12 yrs ago moved to my midstate address 8 yrs ago?

Federal registries are illegal and state ones should be too.

I thought you're supposed to be ok with your Real ID DL? I was told that's why they make me jump through hoops. Oh, it's all illegal, and infringing, but there doesn't seem to much we've been able to do about it. Let's hope that Bruen really was a game changer, cause so far it seems like a lot of defiance from the Democrats. Either we have Bruen or we don't. 🤷‍♂️

No, you need 2 forms of ID for a hand gun.

Didn’t have my power bill.
The truck I had with me is in my wife’s name.
I happened to have an old rental agreement but that only works for a renter, not as the owner.
Had a property tax bill saying I own the property.
Why would I have the last two items in my truck? In case of squatters. I have 10 cameras linked to my phone and good neighbors up there.

Didn’t have my hunting or fishing license which would have worked.

Renewed my Fishing licence, so I can get into Jail tomorrow

I have my DL, Passport, Hunting License, Truck Title.

My Bersa arrived at my FFL today, but the FFL guy had to leave early as his wife broke her arm. I'll go back tomorrow to put it in Jail.

Don't I need to pass an FSC in order to take my handgun? (after 10 day in Jail)

Gentleman,
SB948 Is NOT a CCW thing. Its a permit to purchase! Required class and live fire qualification just to purchase. Blatantly unconstitution!
Secondly....get a CCW, and you'll never need a second form of proof of address ever again.

I want to do that, but one step at a time. I'm heading over to my FFL to put my Bersa in Jail today. I think I need to pass the FSC prior to picking it up. Ultimately, this will be used for a CCW, but first I just want to get it before something stupid like Becera getting into office. If he gets into office, all bets are off. He's worse than Newsom. CCW will also rid transporting a firearm and ammo, without it being locked up, my main goal of the CCW. That goes for inside my house also. There are a lot of restrictions per the FSC. I can get a CCW in Lake County, as long as I take the training. (y)

No, the FSC needs to be completed prior to it going into Jail.
I was able to complete the FSC today, and missed 1 out of 30.

Bersa is in Jail, comes out on the 22nd, the day after Father's Day. Hopefully my forklift tires come by then. The local gent that is putting the tires on the forklift for me has a son that killed a Tom on my property, by throwing a rock at it, hit that guy in the head and killed him. Gives me hope for the pellet rifle. (y) Honestly, I wouldn't have believed it, but my contractor showed me a video of the event. He knocked that Tom out cold like an ice cube.

Damn, it's hot today...CA is roasting on the coals...🥵

EDIT: forgot to say, no 11% tax on the Bersa, my FFL said he can only tax what he sells and they only charged me $15 to ship it to him. My local FFL charges me $75/DROS, that goes for long guns or pistols. And the standard $25/FSC. I'm into the Bersa for $457.91, total, including price, tax, and trasfer. I'm still miffed that the Bersa can be CA compliant.

EDIT2: My bad, I was charged the 11% by Sportsman's Warehouse. I paid $52.92 on 289.99, which is 18.25%, and my local tax is 7.25%, so that 11% is hiding in there. I'm still happy with $457.91 total, though. :)

Keep that receipt. When CPRA wins against the Republik, it’s you means to get the 11% back.
SW did a different thing for me today charged me for gun and DROS. Will charge me for tax at pick up.

I had a NYS CCW, I couldn’t get one pre Bruen in LA county. Good luck with the slow walking in the Same county as Oakland. My NYS permit had to have my purchased gun in jail until county judge signed off on it 2 days after reelection, so over 30 days. Didn’t have much $ in 1981 so I bought an $89 used pistol. And it was politics then, my future MIL was a town official. Couldnt even own a pistol without CCW in NY, and that’s why we have Bruen.

Expecting a 2k hand out to the Government for a right is unreasonable I would probably pay less in fines carrying like the crooks do.,

When you are balancing your life between 2 houses, sometimes you don’t have all your ducks in a row to meet even the purchase requirements.

An LTC(License to carry - aka CCW) does not exempt you from CA safe storage laws. Your CCW can be loaded as long as it is "in your direct control". This also applies to transport. Meaning if you have, lets say, 3 other guns and ammo in your car, they still have to be locked up per the law. Also, if you have to leave your CCW in your car, you still have to unload it and lock it up in safes seperate from the ammo. All your other firearms at home must also be secured per CA regs.

I didn't know we could get it back, I will save my receipts.

L.A. is a $#!T#O!E, they will do anything to keep residents from getting CCW.

I probably won't get it if it's that much, but Lake County has been pro-issue for years. I hope it doesn't take that much for training.

In your case, did squatters try to steal your address away from you? Maybe that's a plus for me, not having a house to live in, on my property. I'm going to look at 23 acres on Tuesday, paved road 2 minutes from the property, year round creek, pig and deer on property, possibly black bears as well...dilapidated barn if anyone wants to squat...LOL

I had enough problems with my tenant. First year no problem. Her house wasn’t ready, so we wrote a Non Renewable 6 month lease. We made some trades for rent (ex zero turn mower in lieu of rent) At the end of 6 months, she tried to argue the dates of the lease.
Not wanting to throw her out just before Christmas, we offered her a 2 month lease up 500 for the first month, up another 500 for the second month. She claimed we couldn’t do that and she would take us to court. The realtor that wrote the lease for us showed her how she signed her court case away in the previous two leases.
She moved out Jan 15. She did not move her exercise equipment out of the shop. We were stuck holding it for 30 days under CA law. We always said to her we were stuck with that for 30 days. On Feb 13, we informed her the locks on the shop would be changed the next day. She managed to hire a moving company before I got up here to change the locks.

Now Squatters are even harder to get out under the law. I took all the precautions like camera system and locking mailbox. Even had to call LEO when some crackhead showed up trying to break in. Had video of him on several cameras.

Dude, sorry to hear, CA is the worst state in the nation for squatters. Of course they get preference over property owners. It is a concern, even for those that don't live in the homes, they can actually move in and squat and we can't get them out, they don't even need a lease. Can you board up the windows and doors so she can't get in? That probably gets the owner in jail, knowing CA.

I was just thinking...in CA, aren't you able to get the Marshall to evict the people if you move into the house you rent? I remember that being one of the laws, for tenants in your home. This is back from the 90s, so that could have changed. Maybe the Marshall will keep her furniture in storage until her home is done...that sounds like a win-win for both of you. Also, can you put a lien on her home?

can tenants be evicted in CA if the owner moves in and lives in the dwelling?

"Yes, tenants can generally be evicted if the owner or a close family member intends to move in. In California, this is considered a "no-fault" just-cause eviction. However, the process is highly regulated and requires specific notices, timelines, and potentially relocation assistance."

That may only apply after the tenants are in the dwelling for 1 year. What a f#@$ing skank...I'd try the lien route as a last resort...

That’s why my DL address is there. And I have a locking mailbox.
And copies of previous leases in my truck. Why would I do anything other than that I had done previosly, and my tax bill. Squatters make up fake leases and get them mailed to the location.
That totally scares me . I just told my wife I said when out rental is empty we better be vigilant
You should be. Enough info out there. I am 400 miles away from my place and trying to be vigilant.

Back to buying the handgun, I got a fishing licence for a year. It’s in jail for now until I get back up in two weeks
I asked the store if my power bill that has a mailing address in midstate would work, they told me it was a PO Box and wouldn’t work. Funny thing that Mailboxes etc address worked for buying 2 weapons when my DL matched it.
I have a trailer registration due. I switched that registration to up north for an additional backup. But that doesn’t come until July.

I officially live in the house I rented to others. I meet every insurance requirement for having residency there. Yeah it’s tough gotta spend 4 day trips up there EOWeek.

I am a resident there. Voter Registration is another hot button I will address I wonld change that registration not so quik because of jury duty.

They call me. Every 2 years here. I am wiling to do my civic duty. Not willing to spend a day in CA courts again.

Another 2 weeks and I finally go it out of jail. So what’s this make it, a month after I started?
Yes, now I have my Fishing Licence and a trailer registration at my DL address. Another year on my FSC if I want to get anything else before the new laws requiring classes and live fire training kick in.
I picked up a Ruger Max-9 and I really like the feel compared to my Pt92 Going to let the wife try it and if it fits her hand, I will upgrade her from my hand me down .380 that I used to extensively carry. She is pretty good with that .380, I just want her to have more rounds
Then I will have to do it all over again..

I almost have what I need...I got some primers at Sportsman's Warehouse in Rohnert Park. FYI, we don't get taxed the 11% extra if you buy it off the shelf. I picked up 1000 CCI Small Pistol Primers, 250 pieces of 380 ACP brass, 1000 bullets, dies, I only need to dig out some powder to use with 380 ACP.
