Buying a handgun

I thought I knew most of the (BS) laws and rules.

With impending legislation, (look up 1046 or 948) your current FSC will be invalid after expiration. You will need 4-8 hours of training plus live fire training. You know the current Governor will sign it.

I stopped today to purchase one last one. Brought my FSC and DL.

Handguns require a second form of ID. Hunting or fishing license, power bill etc. In order to get fire insurance I changed my DL to my house up North where I reside the legal number of days for that. I mainly did that for squatters too. Show the cops my DL for my address, throw their A## out. Only other thing I had in my truck was my property tax bill with both addresses and prior rental agreements, agin for squatters.

My power bill is for the up north address, but gets sent to my Bay Area address to be paid. I don’t have my hunting license with me.

My questions are

Do I buy a 1 day fishing licence so they take that as my 2nd form of ID. And I can pickup in 2 weeks
Do I wait til next trip and bring the power bill that will have both addresses on it.

Any help is appreciated. I know these are first world problems having 2 houses and 2 addresses.
Or do I reup my FSC because it is going to expire next year anyway.

On long guns. I need to take a utility, Car Title, Passport, and DL. The reason is I don't have a Real ID for my DL, and I have my P.O. Box on my DL. I'm kinda surprised they will even give it to you.

That's one of my problems, I have my P.O. Box on my DL, as the county won't issue me a mailbox until I have a residence at the property. Some stuff I have to ship to my rental.

Tell me something...in hearing the EW man talk about getting another handgun, I go looking at the Bersa...probably not a good thing to do, but Bersa has a CA Compliant handgun, like the PPK, but literally under $300.

But can they do something that will prevent me from receiving it, like I didn't do training, or something like that? The page makes it clear that one needs to make sure that the Bersa is legal in your state for you to own. I'm worried that I pull the trigger, and then CA won't let me have it. Can that happen?

You can't always get what you want...but if you try sometime...you get what you need!

I watched this video I think you have nothing to worry about it’s definitely a CCW thing go for it . They are definitely available now . Sportsman warehouse has them in stock also

What’s up with your car registration address isn’t the same ?

Truck I have with me is in my wife’s name, that address is here. Truck we are both are on is back in Bay, but address on it is there.

I had only changed my DL to my up north address as proof on ownership of my retirement house that I work on everyother weekend. You can’t be too careful of squatters. I literally have 10 cameras watching the up north house when I am not there.

Power bill will work. But here is the quandary with that. Bill is for house up north (not PGE) but it gets mailed to Bay Area address for my wife to pay it. Property Tax bill is the same situation. I don’t know if the DOJ will shoot that down.

Hunting license hasn’t been changed yet, because I do most of my hunting in the Bay. I kinda want to get the pistol into 11 day jail this trip. Thats why I thought about a 1 day Fishing license.

This leaves me scratching my head over the Bersa...even though it is California compliant, it seems unlikely the State would let that go through...

However, Will said something in that video that may make me pull the trigger, for lack of a better analogy...

He said that for people that can't afford it, this could present a problem, but for those that can afford to take training, it's an inconvenience. I was looking at a couple places to ship to an FFL, sub $300 for the Bersa blued. I think that's the handgun I would want to use for CCW, if I was to exercise that.

Ok I have been confused with Bersa and Byrna. My wife purchased a Byrna and has yet to show it to me. Non lethal Air gun. My Farrier runs a carriage business and carries one to protect his horses against crazies.
I couldn’t get a purchase completed this trip like I hoped.

No, amazingly the Bersa is a Walther PPK 380 clone...I was going to call today, but forgot. I have a P.O. box on my DL, so my local FFL let's me purchase firearms with a passport. I need to make sure that won't toss any monkey wrenches into this, and I'm not really wanting CCW right now, even though this would be the gun I would use. Doesn't this seem too good to be true? If I end up with one, I'm gonna owe JavBike as payback. You can pick those up for sub $300. Weighs a pound and a quarter.

They don't have a stainless model, but the price is right on this blue'd Firestorm.

EDIT: I have never fired the stainless model, I've rented a Walther PPK 380 several times and it was always blued, as my Step-Father's PPK was. However, JavBike says it shoots better than the Walther. Certainly cheap enough, and the cherry on top is that it's CA compliant! How could that happen?

I wanted a stainless one myself . The Calif complaint firestorm only comes in blue more of a black true blue is like smiths and my ppks . The non complaint models do come in stainless they are sharp looking

I'm ok with it, I can't believe it's CA compliant.

If Bercera gets in office, we're probably screwed in the future. He tried to pass microstamping across the nation. In that sense it would make sense to buy the Bersa now. My hope now is that Hilton will win, but my record in the past is basically being disappointed.

I stopped by this morning to ask my FFL about the Bersa, he said it's a well made gun, and shouldn't be any issues getting one. As I said, kiss our rights goodbye if Bercera gets into office.

Here's a comparison of the PPK/S vs the Bersa. This is the Thunder, not the Firestorm, but footprint and function is the same.

I have only done the online safety with my GO ID. I *think* if I let it lapse for 2 years, I need to take another one online, or FSC.

EDIT: no, that's for long guns ONLY.

"Taking an online hunter safety or GO ID safety course does not directly exempt you from a Firearm Safety Certificate (FSC). However, you can use your California GO ID to present proof of an active hunting license, which grants you an FSC exemption for long guns only. [1, 2, 3]"

I may need to take an FSC prior to picking up my Bersa. Damn, always something...

They'll make me do that. How many hours is an FSC? When my Bersa goes into Jail, I will do it, as I don't think they will release it to me until I do it.

Your ffl guy should have everything you need to get a card I don’t think he would release the gun until you have one . I sure he will charge a fee for that
