What can you say about 3.5” chamber?

To all gents who’ve been around shotguns for a long time, is there any downside to using standard-size loads in a shotgun that has a 3.5” chamber?

I’ve never had any trouble using standard-size loads in a 3.5" chamber. I usually shoot 2¾" shells since they’re more affordable, gentler on the shoulder, and do the job just fine for what I’m after. I think the only bad thing I observed is that some 3.5" semi-autos can be a bit picky with really light target loads. My old turkey gun, for example, just couldn’t stand those super-soft Walmart bulk packs.

It works just fine and I’ve had no major issues, aside from the occasional quirk when it’s lightly loaded. If that’s the gun you’re good with, don’t overthink it... just enjoy it!

Same here! 2¾” and 3” loads run fine in a 3.5” chamber. Most issues only show up with very light target loads in certain semi-autos.

Running 2.75-inch loads in a 3.5-inch shotgun chamber works fine. The recoil might feel a bit sharper, but your gun won’t complain.
