I have a problem, that seems it should be a common problem, but the cartridge is not very popular, 300WSM.

The 300WSM is a wide cartridge, the bolt face is .532", but the case is .555", so it has about .023" difference between bolt face and cartridge, making it a rebated rim.

When I have the action/barrel in the original synthetic stock, it functions and fires when the bolt cams.

When I put it in a new Stockys Carbon Fiber stock it will feed, but after the bolt cams over closed, it won't fire.

I will try to contact Stockys tomorrow as they're not open today, but on a whim, I thought I would post here.

Anyone see this issue?

In the meantime I have it in the original synthetic Tupperware stock. The Vanguard in question does have a Timney trigger upgrade, but it works in the original stock...

So, here's a follow up after talking to Stockys.

The stock that was sent to me was the wrong one, it has a Monte Carlo style grip. As it turns out, the Weatherby trigger is not a Timney, but rather their own by the looks of it. I may need to modify the inlet to acccomodate the trigger, when the new stock arrives. I need to wait for them to receive this RMA# back, before they will send a new stock.

Everything will be the same, except the grip, it will be a VG (Vertical Grip).

Here's pics to see the difference in the grip. Manners on top, Stockys on the bottom.

I fought a similar problem after swapping a hunting rifle into a chassis, and after two frustrating evenings I found the action screws were binding everything just enough to stop firing.

I did run into this same problem on my 300WM, I had to cut the screws off with a dremel to get them low enough that the bolt didn't hit the end of the screws. I bought 2 bags of lengths that I could cut down, so have plenty now. That is a common problem.

In regard to common problems, I figure I'll need to do what I need to do in order to get the trigger to fire. 🤷‍♂️
