Just thinking about how useful ramen can be in emergencies. It's cheap, filling, and seems to last forever, but I wonder about nutrition and shelf life. Got a stash myself, but do you guys rotate yours? How do you store them best? Any tips to make ramen a bit more exciting or useful when the time comes? Let's hear your thoughts!

Reminds me of my broke, single days! Ramen should be on everyone's rations plan, since they seem to last for a dozen years, provided they are stored in a cool, dry area.

I don't know how long oatmeal lasts, but I sure do like oatmeal. I can eat it cooked, uncooked softened in water, or dry. Oatmeal is said to be a "superfood' while instant ramen is said to be a super cheap food. Lastly, I hope that I can eat better, smarter, than when I was in college. Even in an emergency.

I was referred here from a homesteading forum. That forum took over a Prepper forum. I am pretty interested in guns and hunting giving a try here

I may have some survival views, but I am a bug in rather bug out person, I have more of a homestead built than the homesteaders on that forum and trying to build my next place better in a better climate.

If I offend anyone with my views, I apologize. I know I will eat well in SHTF

I have known many people from Japan, but when I had my vintage guitar store in Hollywood, me and my partner had an old Japanese guy stay at our house for a couple weeks at a time.

He would buy a case of ramen, a dozen eggs, some veggies, and he would live off that. Later, in the 80s after I was living in Japan, I visited him with his family a few times.

My wife could take a pack of ramen, add an egg and some veggies, and you would think it was a gourmet meal! After we were married, she would get fresh/frozen handmade ramen, either miso or soy, but her, my son, and my daughter like Shin Ramen, which is Korean. That's pretty cheap stuff. It has a lot of pepper though, and Japanese typically don't like hot food. I guess that part is influence from me.
