My standard response used to be Welcome from a place where everybody hates.
Should I do
Welcome from the Kommunist Republik?
Welcome from the Anti2A hellhole?

Come on, I call it like I see it.
I'm ok with it, so if it strikes your fancy, have at it. I keep hoping this state will turn around, I love this place. I would say it's one of the best places in the country to live, although I haven't been everywhere, I have been to enough.🗽

Welcome Old Jim from a fellow Orange County tax payer. The politics are nuts in Callifornaia. I have spent a lot of time travelling Europe and the United States. A hobby of my wife and mine is when we get in a village, town, or city, we ask could we live here, looking at the good and bad. Southern Calif always shines.

That's rather surprising.

Greetings from Kern County.
Welcome to CSF!

When I was a kid, my next door neighbor's Dad was the executive producer for Bonanza, the TV show, and they used to shoot up in Kern quite a bit. I was almost the same age as their son, so they took me on vacation several times...his name was James Lane. Their son was James Lane III.

We used to use Zeke's cheese on a triple hook, and salmon eggs.

I used to love fishing for trout up there, one of my favorite fish to eat.

I had no idea they filmed Bonanza out her. Thanks for sharing that.
The other place they used to shoot, was Carson City, NV.

EDIT/TRIVIA: For any of you Bonanza aficionados, the opening scene where the Cartrights are riding through a big open valley, that's in Carson City, NV.

Welcome.

Besides only driving through Kern County, I went to pick up a horse in Tehachapi. Kinda liked that area.
Kern is really nice, IMO, I could see living up there. Lots of nature, up in the hills. I don't know too much about Tehachipi, but looking at Google Maps, it's nested in the hills and probably offers a lot of nature also. I am not crazy about Merced, Modesto area, it's hot. I kind of detest the Central Valley, but that area in the foothills going up to Mammath is pretty sweet, up along 395, by Mono Lake. I see red flags the closer I get to Mammoth, if that volcanic structure blows, it will be big. Where the volcano by me is less active.
