So I had this gun for about three years never was that good of a gun . So I stupidly got my file out and shave the feed ramp a little too much . So it’s a paperweight now . So I finally decided to send it in to ruger . As y’all know it’s a big hassle to do that in Cali . Actually it wasn’t that bad I bought it at sportsman warehouse so I start there they told me to contact ruger so I did . Ruger says take it in to sportsman warehouse and they can call ruger and get an authorization number from them . Before I did this I don’t want to waste time and gas I get back on the phone with sportsman warehouse set it all up . Bought it in did the paperwork and paid 20 dollars shipping fee . Hope they give me a new barrel I am willing to pay for it since it’s my fault let’s see what ruger does I will update you guys

Good on you for owning the mistake and sending it in. Ruger has a pretty good reputation for customer service, so there's a decent chance they'll get you squared away, even if you end up paying for the repair. Keep us posted on how they handle it and what the turnaround time looks like.

That's good to know. I would need to do that if I need anything for my Ruger Carbon rifle. Sportsman's only charged $15 to ship my Bersa to my Kelseyville FFL, although they got me for the 11%.....:(

EDIT: did I tell you what a bad influence you are? Next thing I'll have one of these LCP IIs in my cart... Do these slide by the roster because they're 22LR ?

Yeah, the 22LR is smaller than the LCP II 380. But we are so limited on the roster, it's crazy.

I honestly can't believe the Bersa is on the roster. How did that happen? My understanding is that if anyone wants to add a pistol to the roster, that 4 need to be removed for that to happen.

This says it all about Newsom/Bonta in itself. I know that 22LR rifles are not subject to any of the evil features, like thumb hole stocks...so wasn't sure if the 22LR allows it to slide by the roster.

I suspect I will get a lever action first. Something like 45-70 would be fine. There's been a Henry brass model in 22LR, about $900 at my FFL, I've been going back and forth on it since I bought my Ruger Carbon. And the reason I did that is that the Ruger Carbon in 22LR is more similar to my hunting rifles(s). I think it still makes sense, I'm not unhappy I did that. I definitely don't want 22LR for a lever action, I was something bigger that can hunt bears if needed.

PS - thanks for helping to educate my thick skull...

I, too, am looking forward to your Ruger results. I have a local gunsmith who's my go-to; I like his work at 60 bucks an hour, with clever.
I have a 45 - 70, and it's cool to hold when a photo shoot is happening. Launching a 400-grain pellet is a one-time event. At 4 bucks plus a pop, for self loads, then the special loading equipment, it's not one of my smarter buys.
I shoot 200 plus rounds a week. 22 LR allows me to keep some walking money.
Back to levers. I have the Hendry 22 LR Golden Boy Lever and Browning 22 Lr Lever, the Browning is very worked and has the rifleman feature that allows for quick firing. The unmodified Hendy is hands down smoother. Money can't buy everything, just love.

The bersa firestorm been on the Cali roster for a while . I think the model firestorm is only in cali other places it sold under bersa 380

I agree on the Henry I have the silver boy 22mag smooth is the only word to describe it . On the ruger thing I am impressed so far with ruger I told them I sent the gun bsck to them via sportsman warehouse. Got a let back from ruger thank me for letting them know and it said it would be fixed and test target would be in the box also . Pretty impressive on the same page hopefully

Yes, the non-CA Compliant seems to be the Thunder, and is illegal for sale in CA, mainly because it's not gone through the drop test and/or chamber loaded marker. The only difference between the Firestorm and the Thunder are sights, chamber marker, and grips. However, the Thunder didn't go through the drop test, and the Firestorm did.

I'm still a bit miffed that I can get the Firestorm in CA, that to me is spectacular. Mine is coming on Monday. I have dies and brass coming in shipment, I will pick up some small pistol primers, and I will have what I need to load ammo.

FWIW, the sights on the Firestorm are similar to the sights I use on my 45 ACP, other than my 45 ACP has Tritium.

Have you replaced your sights with Tritium sights on the Bersa?

Hmmm...seems the front is staked, so not so easy to replace. This is what I'm gathering from the Bersa Forum. Sights are allowed to be changed, but you must use the Firestorm slide, CA won't allow the Thunder slide to be used.

No I haven’t mine is bone stock except for my pip grips ha ha 😆
I'm gonna most likely keep mine stock, the sights looked ok to me, just not tritium. CA is pretty picky about what you can do to it...I think we're luck to have the Firestorm on the roster, so not wanting to rock the boat too much before I have my CCW with it.

I am not understanding the 380 fan fair. Then, I don't understand most things I know. It's bigger and hits harder than a 22 LR.
I shoot at Evans Gun World at least once a week. Half the people there are LEO's. I can do placement, getting clovers at 30 ft. I don't see that in the people shooting close with the semi-auto 9, 10 mm, or 45's.

Nope, the attraction is that we can't buy a Walther PPK 380 in California, but we can buy the Bersa Firestorm which is actually a clone of the Walther. No stainless models either, the PPKS, which is also in 380.

The PPK 380 is the sexiest handgun on the planet, IMO.

The Bersa Firestorm *IS* on the roster, so we're able to purchase it in California. None of the other Bersas are on the roster, so the only one that is available is the Firestorm 380. I didn't know it was on the roster until JavBike mentioned it. To get a genuine Walter, you will pay ~2k, and the Bersa Firestorm is sub-$300. Centerfire pistols can also participate in NRA events, just not the rimfire.

If Becera wins Governor of CA, all bets are off, he's worse than Newsom. I wanted to get one before that time comes. I'm not suggesting that anyone else does, just that I wanted to for myself. This is a bad state for the 2A. Whether Bercera gets into office remains to be seen.

Steve,

Looking at the roster, the Bersa drops off the roster, 01/01/27, and so does the Smith & Wesson 22A-1. I would imagine that these companies will do the drop test again to get the respective pistols on the roster again, but that is not clear.

I mentioned how much the Walther would cost, about $2,000 if you can find a private seller willing to part with one. But think about paying your county tax + 11% (18.25% in my case), and you will pay about $350 in tax just to buy the Walther. I wouldn't have pursued the Walther at that cost, but was willing to buy the Bersa at about 15% of that cost, with the Bersa. Will I be sexy like Bond? He carried a Walther PPK...I don't think so, but I'll have a similar pistol for CCW. 🤷‍♂️

380 is a fun gun to have I have three a sig p238 , bersa firestorm and a wathter ppks . I also like the 32 acp platform I have two of those a beretta tomcat and a Seecamp both calibers are fun to shoot .

Well I don’t know about that it’s funny I was looking thru sportsman warehouse stuff on line and that appears to be correct but I saw physically they had them for sell at the store in Brentwood they told me they had two of them . I think they are still on the roster

There is exactly 34 rugers on the Cali roster
there sure to appear to be so. Odd, no Ruger drop down/

I do see the CA Compliant model, which must include a loaded-chamber indicator. Yep, I searched for Ruger in the "Centerfire Pistol" category and got 34 like you. Prior I got nothing, as I didn't select Centerfire Pistol.
