Some of y’all are way more adventurous than me. I’d probably be happiest grilling in the backyard and calling it a day

Now I’m craving some grilled bison ribs too! :)
If you were here I would have shared them with you!

I have some pulled pork left, I brought home. All in all, had a good time, even though the guy's house we went to was a DemonCrap. He was not wanting to hear me yap about CA and the problems we're going through, or how I gave my vote to Bianco...most of the people I meet are conservative, but occasionally, there's a twit like this guy...he did have a nice pellet range setup, and turkeys walking though his yard. Just about 20-30 yards. He had a pellet rifle like my landlord, the single shot break action. His was only .177", the pellets were tiny.

Tonight was bone in Chicken thighs on the Blackstone airfryer. Nothing spectacular.

Tomorrow is some dried Pinto beans for baked beans. Throwing some left over smoked tritip in at the end in the mix. That is going to be tasty.

Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno, CA. yesterday, 145,000 burials here. Following the ceremonies I walked through and payed my respects to the many KIA headstones.

@NorCal Flyer your thread is much better than my post.
Well, you have a nice looking 'tip on the 'que, can't beat that. I had a guy living next to me in Van Nuys, my first house. He grew up in Santa Barbara and Hawaii. As you may know, Santa Barbara is close to San Ynez, the home of tri-tip. Was actually discovered by accident, as I understand it. The way he taught me to do it is using Bernsteins Original Italian dressing, use about half a bottle in a big ziploc and marinade it overnight. I use a large fork to poke holes in the meat before the marinade.

The oil in the dressing keeps the tip from burning, and I flip frequently to prevent burning, basting with the Bernsteins left over to prevent it from burning. Do be careful if you have facial hair, it can burn when you flip. You use the fat cap to control the fire, raising the heat on the fat side, and searing on the meat side. This is not a super tender way to cook it, but I have ever had any left, the guests eat it all
I grew up near the birth place of Memorial Day. They will still celebrate it on May 31.

You win the meaning of Memorial Day
That was pretty epic in San Bruno...astonishing how many graves are there...

Wife used to work in Santa Barbara, commuted from Sunland every day. So I know SB well.

When we got married in Pismo, we went to a Steakhouse in Casmalia. Looked like a dump in an old cow town. Supposedly on the Forbes list of top Steak Houses $$$$ but worth it. Got the table next to the grill and watched. Learned the technique and can control the heat on my stick burner enough to emulate it without the Santa Maria Style Grill. They have #2 in Buelton. Even bought a jar of their spice got that pretty close to duplicated

Probably going there for our anniversary before we move north.

The birthplace of Memorial Day was in Waterloo, NY. Forgot one year, and had to take back streets around town to work.

This is such a large military cemetery, this view posted as you probably know may be the longest length, but all the way around me from mound drive with the flag pole, are so many more.

Kudos to your wife. That's no easy commute.

You would think I would know SLO better, but for some reason, I have friends that moved there to Paso and Templeton, Los Osos...I like the Mooro Rock.

That's the one thing I've wanted to build, a Santa Maria Style Grill. Being able to control the heat by adjusting the meat seems like a great thing. The world would be a better place with more Picanha.

I may have to try that. I'm heading down for my 50th reunion, we're having a special dinner on the Friday, and Saturday we meet every year at one of the parks in Simi. I have only been to one, with my wife. It was the 25th, so now I'm showing up at the 50th. My wife said she would never go to another one of my reunions, again, and I believe her. I've eaten with the kids in Buelton a couple times, and took my parents to a steak house by the freeway. We used to stop at that exit to get gas at the Chevron station a number of times. I vaguely remember Ostriches and Alpacas on the way to Buelton. I don't think I ever ate either...

What about the Presidio? Is that for Officers only? That cemetary in San Bruno is enormous...
Yes, I've been to Presidio also, but it filled up long time ago, while it does have a lot of officers, it also has regular enlisted also.
As a note, General McArthur is buried in San Bruno, and there are also around 30+ German and Italian POWs buried there also, moved from other bases that closed their cemeteries.

Thank you everyone for your entries!

Congratulations to @NorCal Flyer for taking the top spot, your post got the most community reactions and earned you a free 1-year Gold Membership renewal.

Cool, thank you, very much appreciated, wasn't after this, just was adding my Memorial Day pix as that was a topic that caught my eye.
