I stopped going to my old range

New management took over and suddenly everything's a safety violation. We can't draw from a holster, can't do rapid fire, can't shoot anything they deem 'too loud,' and the RSO stands behind you critiquing every shot. I get safety but when the rules make it impossible to actually train, it's time to find a new spot

Totally agree. My old range was like that...

Indoor or outdoor?

The indoor ranges around me are nearly the same. Slow fire, no draw, only aimed fire (no "hip shots"). The pistols ranges allow "pistol" cartridges only (FMJ), however they will allow some PC rifles. The indoor rifle range nearby is same. Slow fire, no draw (pistols), aimed fire, Cartridge "cap" is .338. There are also restrictions on bi-metallic, steel case, etc.)

Edited to add: Distance is 25 yards max.

Stopped going to indoor ranges years ago. My range has a public section where rules are strict and RSO's are active.
I, however, have a "club" membership which provides me access to 30 different private bays. Some are pistol only, while others have targets out to 800yards. No RSO's, the only rule is no steel-core ammo, fire hazard.
