Compact 9mm was the hardest for him. Full-size .45 felt natural, the revolver clicked immediately. There is no universal best gun for beginners, there is only the gun that matches a person’s hand, timing and confidence on that day.

Looks like you're using the Dark theme. When trying to read using the Light theme, your post is almost invisible. I have to block it out (like in Copy/Paste) to see what you wrote or switch my theme to dark. Here's what it looks like.

I always use my Ruger MK II .22LR as the starter pistol. VERY mild recoil, no loud bang, not too heavy or light. Usually allays any initial fears one my have about shooting after having their brains polluted by Hollywood's gun lies.
Only then do I move on to larger caliber pistols, usually full-size, again to minimize felt recoil. Also try to use lite loads before going full power.
