Fishing rods

I've usually stuck to buying fishing gear right off the shelf, but lately, I've been seriously thinking about getting a custom-built rod. I'm after something versatile that can help me target small bluefin tuna and yellowtail during sunny days. What I'm hoping for is a rod that has just the right action for casting iron but is also sensitive enough to handle flylined baits with ease. Any recos?

Seems these rods are on both ends of the spectrum. I hope someone can chime in!

You’re probably looking at rod sizes between 7'6" and 8'6". The right length really depends whether you're fishing from shore or boat. A longer rod can help you get the extra casting distance for your iron, while a shorter one gives you better control when you're reeling in the fish.

I've grown up fishing lakes and streams with short (5' to 5'6") rods and light spinning reels, but I've tried a couple 7' ultra light (or light, maybe) action rods and really like them. Not the best when fishing from areas with a lot of vegetation and trees around but I love the feel. That said, I always keep 2 poles now, a shorty and a 7' to 7'6", but both are ultra light action.
