I attended the Splash-In today. It was a good chance to meet @NorCal Flyer and his wife. He recently won the Memorial Day Subscription Giveaway, and it's nice to see a deserving gent win.

He mentioned to me that he was coming up to Lakeport for the Splash-In, and I went over there since it's close. I really wanted to get a seaplane at one point, I knew you could fly in/out of the lake when I bought my property. There a few older distressed planes on the beaches around the lake, I've seen them a number of times.

Maybe my next business will be profitable enough to buy one. I suspect I will buy another sailboat before a seaplane though. 🤷‍♂️

This is a 1959 Cessna (I think), own said it's worth about $50,000

This is the most expensive seaplane that was at the splash-in. This Cessna seats about 6-8 people, and NorCal Flyer mentioned it's worth about $2,000,000 - $3,000,000 and worth more than all the other seaplanes put together.

And as a note, the price on the last one, the Cessna Caravan, that doesn't include the amphibious float conversion.
beautiful plane, I can only wish...as I said, if my next business does well, it would be nice to be able to buy something like that. Even the newer carbon planes would be very nice to own. 👏

I'm basically in the $50k range of the 1959... :ROFLMAO:

Yes, the Green one is an ultralight called a QuickSilver, I believe. He flew it Saturday afternoon and Thursday evening.
That's pretty cool, those floats don't cost very much for those, but it's basically only the speed of a hang glider. I watched a YT video that said 40mph. I have a friend that used to fly off the cliffs at Pacifica, on a hang glider. The floats are only about $500-$700 extra. That would be a cool way to fly around the lake.(y)

The Carbon Cub was about 100mph, but of course it's about $350,000 more upfront cost.

That said, that Caravan is definitely the jaw dropper... ;)
