Anyone else hunting bear this season?
I had a deer tag, but North A zone is expired for deer. I hope I can find a bear. I have a 2025 tag and a pig tag as well. My hunting partner had a bruiser on his trail cam up in Upper Lake, on private land.
As long as we're on private land, I'm under the impression that we can take bear (no sows with cubs) until the end of December, but we need to let the CDFW extract teeth.
I see a lot of wildlife after the burns. The last couple nights look perfect, foggy and damp, it's been raining again...today was cloudy but dry. I had a car cover blow off one car at my property, so got it tied on. Looks like another storm is coming in.
Given we're mid October, I think we're gonna have quite a few storms blow through...winter is upon us. We need water to survive, and that goes for game also. I don't know how that works for bear, as when they hibernate they turn off their system...fascinating animals...
They look so dumpy, the way they swagger around, but seeing one rag a deer or pig gains my respect.
Be safe while hunting bear!
