My buddy runs a prism scope because he's astigmatic and red dots are a mess for him. Nobody talks enough about how astigmatism affects optic choice. It's a real thing, do your research before you buy..

Yeah, for some of us that “perfect dot” looks like a glowing grape cluster. Prism optics suddenly make a lot more sense

Even with prism optics, ability to see out of them varies.
I had never been able to see out of Tasco scopes. B+L yes.
Bought my kid a cheap pair of Tasco mini Binoculars, he could see, I couldn’t.

One time buying a gun with a scope mounted- yes could see in the store with a Vortex. Considered the Vortex. But given the option, I went with my standby.
Overall I might be a cheap guy that knows what works for him. My wife has been on auctions is this scope good, how about this one. I really don’t think there is a definitive name. She was throwing out premium brand names. Scopes that cost more than my guns.

I know that B+L does not make them any more in the US and doesn’t own that division anymore. I knew many people that worked for B+L

I put a B+L on my former AR, 4-12. Loved it. Put a B+L red dot on her ranch rifle. I love it, Don’t think she has shot it enough though.

I also have mixed results with various optics, and tend to use an LPVO to replace the red dot. I feel more comfortable with an LPVO, and it can go higher than 1x, in most cases. I have a Vortex 1-4x24 Gen 1, and it's really good up to 200 yards, IMO. I only have one red dot, it's a Vortex Strikeforce II with a 4 MOA dot. I currently have that on a 300 blackout pistol upper, but don't keep it assembled to avoid legal issues. This is to say, I don't trust our current CA administration to let me off, as they would a gang member.

I have a 1-8x LPVO also. That's some power for an LPVO that has the ability to go down to 1x.

I'm just realizing that I'm done working. I want to enjoy my retirement with hunting and fishing. I'd sure like to get me a 10 lb. bass.(y)
