Trying extended length for Single Feed bullets on the McGuire 125 grain Copper Rose bullets.

I'm not sure this makes those most sense for an expanding bullet as much as it may for a fracturing bullet, but seating depth could make a difference. May also end up with a different load than the Mag Feed. These are set to 3.060" so will fit in the 3.100" Baney Box if need be.

I've been told the seating depth doesn't seem to make a difference, but until it's tested, I don't think anyone can say for certain.

I was limited on brass on hand, as well as what has Fed 210M primers. I don't think these loads actually need Magnum primers, as there is well under 60 grains of powder, the magic number I've heard to switch over to Magnum primers. Since my 6.5 needs to be re-bore sighted and zero'd in again, I thought I would use the McGuire 125s for this. I want to use these as my main hunting bullet this season.

I also have a box of Cutting Edge 125 grain Maximum bullets and Gorilla/LehighDefense Controlled Chaos bullets. Did I mention I have 2 boxes of 120 grain Barnes TTSXs? These bullets were actually purchased for 6.5 Creedmoor.

Well, I only shot 6 or 7 rounds, it just poured like crazy in Highland Springs, and I didn't even set any targets and couldn't get the LabRadar working today, either.

I can say with certainty, I shot 6.5 PRC only today, just those 7 rounds, and it was like night and day from last week when I was shooting 300WM and 300 Weatherby Magnum. Partially, that could be due to none of my bolt actions have brakes on them, and I would like to get them threaded, or get a lathe setup so I could thread them myself, that would be the long term goal.

I will concentrate on 6.5 PRC and 270 Weatherby Magnum. Those are well suited for California hunting, IMO. It's not as if having too big of a caliper is as bad as having not enough, just that the 270/PRC are a much more manageable, recoil wise. Both the 300 Weatherby Magnum and the 300 Win Mag have old, hard butt pads on them. The 6.5 PRC in the Manners has a Limb Saver, and the Fierce LA stock I'll move the 300WM to a Limb Saver also. I will be using it for hunting most all of the time this season, and start dialing in the 270 Weatherby Magnum, as soon as I get some brass.

There's a glaring difference between shooting the 6.5 PRC with the Limb Saver and shooting the Remington 300 Win Mag, which has the original pad from the early 60s.

I’d choose a primary hunting load that offers consistent expansion at your average shot distance and reliable mag feeding, instead of just chasing the prettiest bench group that only works with single feeds.
