Summer usually feels slow for hunting, but it’s a great time to get ready before the chaos kicks in. I've been checking my gear and getting in some workouts, but I know I should probably be doing more, like scouting new spots or fine-tuning my land management, so I'm curious what others tackle during these months.

I like to get my cams out early so I can watch how the bucks are moving and see which ones are hanging around my spot. I also set up a few in some key locations to start getting the deer used to the area before the rut kicks in. It's always exciting to see what shows up.

Both the zones I have property in are open for deer.

Bucks have been running stupid around here in A south. Not sure in B1, but the elk are active.

First time I have seen rut line up with season in 5 years.

Being from back east, this early rut and season isn’t consistent with my cold weather gear. I am used to hunting in sub zero temps, not 80 degrees.

Summer can get hot on the west coast...for certain...gets easily over 100 degrees where I'm at in Lake County, typically during august. I'm in A zone north, up near the top. Where are you in A zone south?
