I was at the range yesterday and talking to one of the Board Members, and I'm so glad I'm staying away from ARs, as it seems you can't even have a normal mag release. Although nobody has been charged, for AW, standard capacity mags, or evil features, he had a 22LR in AR configuration, which is allowed to have a 30 round mag and he had a compensator, which was just an extension, it was solid, no flash hider holes, no brake holes, it was a solid piece. I unloaded a mag fairly quickly.
I'm trying to decide between a Ruger Carbon or a Rossi lever action in 357 mag or 44 mag. The Rossi has a picatinny on it, so one could mount a scope (he had a red/green dot on his 22LR), but I'm not sure it would be competitive at 200 yards. I'm told they shoot silhouettes at 100 and 200.
He said he doesn't think the pistol brace injunction will stand up in court, in the end, but that members of the 2nd Amendment Foundation and Firearms Policy Coalition are covered in CA. Barrels shorter than 16" are evil also.
In this regard, the lever action would allow me to compete on Wednesdays, my club holds a lever action competition on every Wednesday. Either way I go, bolt action Ruger or lever action Rossi would not be subjected to AR technicalities.
