Barstow

It's always a privilege to welcome an OIF vet into our circle. You’ll find a great group of folks here who really value good gear and honest conversations, plus that kind of wisdom that only comes from being in the trenches. Whether you’re looking to share some war stories, chat about setups, or simply relax with like-minded people, you’re in the right spot.

Welcome Joe.
No idea what OIF is, but others are happy about it.
I'll be in your backyard, middle of November at Slash X, raising money to keep our land open, for the people. And looking for a big rock to drive over.

Funny, the Rubicon is pretty much a big rock. My jeep has signs all over it saying " I'm not a Poser". It has never done a crawl in the mall.
The Rubicon is one of the reasons I love California so much. It is one of the most beautiful landscapes, but it is not for posers...I only took my Rover out a few times, I towed and drove it most of the time, and wish I had never let it go for scrap. Now, I would stick a Chevy engine in it, and be done...that would be an awesome coiler...but oh well, I gave away the D90 tires and wheels to a fellow Rover nut for free. This is is one of the very truths I learned about Rovers...mine leaked so much power steering fluid, weeds grew through the asphalt street where I parked it. But it never let me down, disappointed and got me filthy many times, but got me home...

But you know, Yosemite, Death Valley, Highway 1 between Monterey and SLO, the Redwood all the scenic routes, SF Bay, San Diego, etc...California sucks... 😏 Tax wise, we gotta fix this $#!T...I'm driving back to Petaluma today, 3 hours of driving, Cal Trans working on the freeway/highways, paying $6.50/round to be able to zero/hunt with my nicest rifle...it probably makes sense to me more than anyone else...LOL

I roll to all these places and am in awe every time I'm there.. Not in the jeep, it sucks on the road, I drag it behind the motor home. I have an old school Ruger Precision 6.5 Creedmoor, my son and I went halves on about ten years ago. Then got a stack of Honuby Match ammo. It was like twenty-five bucks a box. From 50 yards, I shot a 3/8" steel plate with the 6.5 with the intent to make it ding, and it punched a clean hole in it. My nine put smear marks on the plate.

Not a bad way to see the country though.

After today I'm feeling sick, but don't want to cr@p in the OP's thread...
