Does anyone on here use Hammer bullets in their 30 caliber? Specifically, anything in the 154gr to 181gr range and has real world on game terminal performance experience?

I've had great success with the 124g HH over Ramshot traveling ~3,150 fps. from my light-weight Kimber 84M Hunter chambered in .308 Win. This combo is deadly on deer and pigs inside of 400 yards. I just recently purchased some 154g HHT to play around with. I'll be starting with Benchmark powder, no testing yet.

If you're gearing up for some elk, bear, or those hefty whitetail, you might want to consider sticking with the 154-181 grain range

HHT bullets have this way of peeling that's kind of reminiscent of traditional Hammer expansion. They transfer way more energy when you're hitting at those mid-high speeds. This makes them perfect for those longer shots where your velocity might drop a bit, but the impact still really counts. It's all about getting that right effect when it really matters

When it comes to .30 calibers, it seems like a lot of people are really leaning towards the 154-181gr range. I've heard some great things about the 166gr and 181gr Hammer Hunter bullets. People are getting solid results with them in a bunch of different .30 caliber cartridges.

Weatherby sells 6.5 PRC ammo using the Hornady 124 HH. I want to try that, as Weatherby only started making non-Weatherby cartridges recently. I have a sample pack of 124 HHs (only 15), but will be using them this year. What type of Ramshot are you using? I have some Magnum.

Interesting to note that Weatherby offers 2 bullets in the 300 Weatherby Magnum, the 170 and the 195, and the later fits more with the slower, heavier bullet, but one of the guys at Weatherby said he's taken both Elk and Moose with it.

I'm using Ramshot TAC. Sorry about that, I meant to include that information in my original post. I safely reached 3,200 fps with TAC but found better accuracy at 3,150.

I would be happy with 3100, although I think I can get higher...seems most people push the HHs to max, when they see pressure signs and back off .5 grain. That is what I'm planning to do, but since Weatherby offers the 6.5 PRC with the Hammer 124 HH, that seems like good to have around. I will chrono them, when I shoot them, but hope to only shoot about half the box and see how they group and what speed they get. Since you're shooting 308, I might be able to get 3400 as Steve Davis suggested.

I also plan to test Hornady 130 grain CX bullets, as my friend just bought some 130 grain CXs to test in his son's 270 WSM, so that should be a good test to see how the 2 compare with the same weight/type of bullet. I have not used Hammer bullets in the past, but have used Barnes LRX (CA compliance). Nowadays there's a lot of non-lead options, and while not everyone is on board using them, I don't see anything wrong with not having lead particles in my meat.🤷‍♂️
