I was coming back from town and hit a rock that fell off the side of a mountain. I messed up the wheel and tire, in a bad way. Luckily I had a good spare and AAA came out and put it on for me.

Not starting out the year in a good way...:(

2 weeks ago was heading up north-was dodging rocks coming down on the 101. Kinda hard to do pulling a trailer

A couple months ago, wife caused a couple hundred $ damage on her vehicle coming home. She should known better coming up our road,

I cannot blame the county, park district has fought them for years. I supplied the documentation for current county government for damage on my road is the county’s responsibility. The cattle guards are the park because the collect rent for cattle to separate herds

It’s been a county road since 1906, but 3 miles was claimed by a park district to shut our houses down from being built. My house is fairly new, 50 years old. But I and CalFire got them to trim the trees back through the park.

The joys of Govt agencies trying to exert their authority. It really doesn’t happen to this extent in other states.

This was the hardest I've hit a rock, in 50 years of driving.

I wasn't surprised the wheel and tire were gonners...the spare is still holding air, although it has some flapping rubber, but my little compressor/jumper/flashlight pumped it up. My only complaint, the little hose connector gets frickin' hot, like so hot it will start smoking. This has been pretty darn useful...it has a large jumper pack on it that takes several hours to charge, but will charge on a USB connection. There's a very small brass connector that screws into the unit, and that is what gets hot.

Tell your wife not to feel bad, cause I did a double disaster yesterday. Still holding air though, surprisingly. A piece of the tread is flopping off the steel plys. I'm not driving it anywhere, and will remove the wheel and put the front on jack stands to take both wheels and tires to the tire store.

public roadways are no fun. Nobody wants to repair them. We had to pay the county to fix them inside Buckingham Park and they assessed about $250 on taxes for 5 years. These are public roads also...your place sounds nice, maybe we can meet each other at some point, but I have my hands full at the moment...my landlord's leech field is pooched on his septic system, and unfortunately my basement toilet is the first entry point to backup. Wait until he find out how much it cost to replace the leech field...my rent ain't gonna cover it...if they need to remove old leech field, and build a new one, he's in for a shocker when he gets the bill. 🤷‍♂️

@Eastenerwesterner

Give me your thoughts on these wheels. This is the wheel and tire I destroyed. I think it's safe to say that this tire is NOT patchable. :rolleyes:

This is the spare wheel, the bottom is where the separation is happening:

What I'm hoping is that I can take a hammer and persuade that wheel back into shape. The bead doesn't need anything to pop into place, I've done this on my Tacoma after I lost the lower ball joint...that was pretty terrifying.

I don't have road hazard on these tires, so my plan is to order another Yokohama Avid Touring tire and order a Kumo of the same size ($92 for Kumo, $111 for Yokohama), and put the Kumo for the spare. I thought the spare had air, but after I got home it was on the ground. I filled it to 36 lbs. last night and it's still holding today. I can move it around to get on flat ground to use jack stands.

@KonoctisWigwam

Both tires are shot. Rim, I am 75% sure is shot
The rim may be shot, that I'm not sure yet, but the bead seals lower and I think I can pound that back. I will find out today. I think both tires are shot, and will order 2 new Yokohamas, put both the new tires on the fronts, and keep the bad rim for the spare. In theory I won't use that much, but I want a solid spare, if nothing more than having one for AAA to replace.
