Hawk vs Cheetah

Ya, hard to believe. but when I was working at a launch pad at Cape Canaveral, I watched an eagle fly off with a big 10–11 pound bass with ease.
No, I think @Havasu is correct, I stand corrected...from Google AI...

No, a hawk absolutely cannot lift a cheetah; hawks typically carry prey only up to their own body weight (a few pounds at most), while cheetahs weigh 75-140 pounds, making it physically impossible for any hawk, even the largest eagle, to lift one, though large raptors might attack very small kittens or puppies.

Why Hawks Can't Lift a Cheetah:

  • Weight Limits: Hawks are built light for flight, with hollow bones, and generally can only carry prey up to their own body weight, which is usually only a few pounds (e.g., 1-5 lbs).
  • Cheetah Size: A cheetah is a large, powerful mammal weighing many times what a hawk can lift.
  • Physical Impossibility: Even massive eagles, like the extinct Haast's Eagle (the only bird big enough to potentially hunt large prey like moa), couldn't lift a cheetah, let alone a modern hawk.

This makes me wonder where we will go with technology. Currently, we can use drones to chase herds to where we can shoot them, and I have to imagine this technology will only get more widespread as we move forward. I once wanted to write an Embedded Linux application that could control a camera down at a target, this was before dopler was getting widespread. Now that's pretty much obsoleted with products like the Longshot.

I could see using a drone to chase a heard over or down a draw. Kaboom!
