Thanks for the invite into the group. Being a CCW holder living in this anti gun SF area can be lonely. Looking forward to sharing info

Welcome, just renewed my CCW last weekend. I'm glad the new "sensitive areas" didn't discourage you from remaining a CCW holder. What a bunch of BS. All of Ca. needs to apply for a CCW now! If anyone would like more info on obtaining a CCW permit, please message me.

It cost me $1200 and 18 months all together in San Mateo County, none of the time it took was my fault. They lost my live scan the first time after having to wait four months for them to confirm it was lost. By then in August the NEW Psychiatric review was installed by the Governor, thus more expense and time. I documented the whole process.

So many counties so many rules.
Had a NYS CCW. Not easy to get. Yeah my MIL was a Receiver of Taxes
Going to LA county, said this ain't gonna happen.
Moving to Alameda, they make it even more cost prohibitive.
Technically now I am a resident in up North county. Going to give it some time before applying. Think I want to meet my neighbor out back first. The Sheriff has the cattle operation in back of me.
Thats the way this and other states operates.

Since it falls on the head of Law Enforcement for the city or county where your address is located to insure that you are competent with what you're carrying, their observing you at a range seems reasonable to me. It's just about the only part of the whole process that does seem reasonable.
I've never pursued the CCW, but I did get a "Guard Card" to carry while employed as a security guard just to do it. Only duty leather equipped hand gun available to me was a friend's 6" Model 29. So I qualified on 7.6 grs of Unique behind 240gr LSWC's.

Friend of mine moved his legal address to Tehama County to get a CCW while he worked in San Jose.
Then he moved to WY and the issue is reciprocity.

We spent $400 for training and testing at the range (not including ammo, etc.) with a company approved by the County. Also, you are only allowed up to three guns for CCW, so you train with those only. They are stamped onto the back of the CA CCW. To me it's one or the other with training, it's just another step and expense to slow you down, glad I'm not in alameda County. My buddy got so frustrated after his live scan was lost also, he called it quits and moved to Idaho. No CCW needed.

Calif. CCW is not reciprical with any other state. If you want to add a Red Dot that isn't already listed from training, you must wait 2 years until your renewal training, per my county to add it. Same with if you only trained with one gun for your CCW, must wait to add another.

I didn't say that the whole process didn't stink. I said that the Head LEO in your area is taking on the responsibility of your being someone who can handle a firearm in CCW-possible scenarios. That they would want to watch you on a Range makes sense.

It's the politics above the head LEO and the system-wide bureaucracy that garbage up the works. This State is anti- just about anything that doesn't line the State's pockets. It used to be a fine State before the carpetbagger's arrived.
