Hit up a local lake in Northern California last weekend. Targeted bass with some green pumpkin Senkos. Water was pretty clear with a slight breeze, which made for decent visibility. I fished solo, and it was definitely one of those days where patience was key. Managed to land a couple of 2-pounders, but had a bunch of missed strikes, which is always a bummer. Forgot my pliers again, so I had to do some interesting fish gymnastics getting hooks out. How's everyone else's luck this year? Any good reports around your area?

Man I remember about 15 years ago maybe 20 when Castiac was smoking hot also clear lake was also hot. Said they were using A/C plugs about 8-10" long rainbow trout patterns and this one guy I guess caught like three large mouth bass over 20lbs in one particular year. It was big news in Oklahoma as we don't have bass that big here. I always wanted to go to Castiac. Hope I spelled it right 😂

Looking for reports for Klamath.
Board at the SW sporting goods store in Eureka. Says don't bother.

My Native neighbor says you gotta know where. But he is native so I might not be able to go there

When I finally move, I am between the Smith and the Klamath.

I want to be in the area that I saw as a kid I hope this dam removal improves things.
Unfortunately I don't see it happening without a huge restoration program in my lifetime

Is that the area I heard about where they blocked off the water because of some dart or something stupid ? Was thinking it was some fish that was the ridiculous reason.

No, that is an area where they are removing 100yr old dams to "restore" the salmon. Its really because the power companies want to abandon. It was great fishing 50 yrs ago with the dams.
Read recently why the salmon are down. The seals are waiting at the mouth of the river and now there is an effort to bring that population under control.
